Financial Statement of Faith

We recognize that all that we have belong to the Lord, not just a portion, but all our income and possessions.

  • God owns it all – Psalms 50:10
  • Psalms 24:1
  • 1 Corinthians 6
  • 1 Corinthians 10:26

We are grateful to God for supplying our needs and celebrate the many blessings and the abundant provision that he has freely bestowed on us, and recognise that He gives us the ability to create wealth.

  • 1 Samuel 2:7,
  • 1 Chronicles 29:14 & 16
  • Philippians 4:19,
  • 3 John 2
  • Deuteronomy 8:1

We determine to put our hope in God, and not to serve riches or put our hope in wealth, but to be content in the Lord with what we have.

  • Be on your guard against. – Luke  12: 15,
  • Don’t put hope in wealth. – 1 Timothy 6: 5-10- 17-19
  • Being Content – Philippians 4: 11-13
  • Where your treasure is – Matthew 6:21

We therefore start with a heart commitment to honour, obey & bless the Lord with all our income and possessions that He has given us, starting with the first part of our income.

  • Proverbs 3:9-10
  • Cain & Able. Genesis 4:3-5
  • Firstborn – Exodus 13:2-13
  • First Fruits – Exodus 23:19
  • Romans 11:6

We honour and follow the example of Abraham, the father of our faith, who gave a tenth to God, and we believe in the principle of the tithe and giving our first to God through the local church.

  • Jacob – Genesis 28:22
  • Malachi 3:8-9
  • Melchizedek: Genesis 14:18-20
  • As a type – Hebrews 5:9-10, Hebrews 7:8

We recognize that we are called to be good stewards of all He has given us, with our time, talents and financial treasures. We also recognise that our financial stewardship determines the true riches that we can be entrusted with.

  • Stewardship – Matthew 25
  • Luke 16:11

We recognize God’s abundant love as our ultimate motivation for a lifestyle of generosity. It’s from this overflow of the love that he has poured out in our hearts, that we and count it an honour and a joy to partner with the Lord by giving generously, and not under compulsion.

  • John 3:16
  • Genesis 28:22
  • 2 Corinthians 8:2

We believe that our giving should be characterized by 3 components of being joyful, regular and sacrificial, and that we shall persist with a lifestyle of generosity even when it is not convenient to do so.

  • Joyful – 2 Corinthians 9:7 & 2 Corinthians 8:2
  • Regular – 1 Corinthians 16:1-2
  • Sacrificial – 2 Corinthians  8 & 9

As members, we are responsible to support our local church financially, those who labour in it, and to fund missions and social outreaches in order to advance the kingdom of Jesus. We also desire to be especially mindful of urgent needs among those in our spiritual family.

  • Ephesians 2:8-10
  • 2 Corinthians 9:8
  • Exodus 23:19

We believe in the principle of sowing and reaping and that the Father of heaven, the source of all provision, has already opened the windows of heaven and poured out his blessings upon us in seed form.

  • 2 Corinthians 9:10

We recognize that God calls us to be generous with our finances so that His name will be praised and His Kingdom will be advanced. 2 Corinthians 9:6-14 We understand that, in order to be able to give abundantly, we need to use our energy, talents, and labour in combination with his favour to create wealth for the purposes of advancing his kingdom.

  • Deuteronomy  8: 17-18

We determine to live generously and give abundantly even beyond the tithe, so that his nature, goodness and kindness will be shown through us.

Our Financial Vision

We believe that ENSTB is called to honour God and advance His Kingdom with our finances. We believe that we are blessed to be a blessing, and have faith that our members will have an abundance and will be financially generous. Through this generosity we will support:

  • Church plants and  campus ministries
  • Social responsibility programs and initiatives
  • Spiritual family members who are in need
  • Other needs beyond our spiritual family.  All of this is so that we can honour God and make disciples!
